Sewing Instructor

Jam is a competitive American Smooth ballroom dancer who designs and stitches his own outfits on and off the dance floor. With 30+ years of dance experience and 12+ years of sewing, he specializes in menswear, including trousers, waistcoats, button-ups, ties, and Indian kurtas. Skilled in linen, denim, wool suiting, silk, and leather, he also designs custom embroidery patterns and adapts patterns for fit and style. Most of his work has been based on patterns adapted from freesewing.org.

A former professor and engineering manager, Jam brings patience and mentorship to his teaching, encouraging students to embrace mistakes and learn through experience. When he’s not sewing, he’s on the dance floor, always dressed in his own bespoke designs.
