Teacher

  • Description:

    As a Teacher or Guest Teacher at That's Sew Austin, you will impart your sewing and crafting skills to our enthusiastic learners through One-on-One Classes, Studio Time, Helpline Calls, Consultations, and or Group events. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about teaching and sharing their expertise in a supportive and creative environment.

  • Responsibilities:

    Conduct One-on-One Classes, Studio Time, Helpline Calls, Consultations, and or Group events as scheduled.

    Prepare lesson plans and materials tailored to the needs of students.

    Ensure a positive, educational, and safe environment for all students.

  • Compensation:

    50/50 revenue split for each one-on-one class booked, unless otherwise negotiated.

    Unlimited studio time to work on personal projects or prepare for classes.

Guest Teacher

  • Description:

    Guest Teachers at That's Sew Austin bring fresh perspectives and specialized skills to our community through limited engagements or special workshops. This role is ideal for experienced instructors or experts in specific areas of sewing, crafting, or design who wish to share their knowledge on a short-term basis.

  • Responsibilities:

    Conduct workshops or classes focused on specific techniques, projects, or concepts.

    Collaborate with studio staff to prepare necessary materials and promote sessions.

    Provide a unique, inspiring educational experience tailored to the interests and skills of our members.

  • Compensation:

    Negotiable per workshop or class. This can include a flat fee or a percentage of class revenue, depending on the agreement.

    Opportunity for repeat engagements based on class feedback and mutual interest.

    Promotional support for your personal brand and events through That's Sew Austin's marketing channels.

Studio Monitor

  • Description:

    Studio Monitors ensure the smooth operation of the studio space, providing support to both staff and members. This role involves overseeing studio maintenance, assisting members with equipment, and working on personal projects.

  • Responsibilities:

    Monitor and maintain the studio environment to ensure cleanliness and order.

    Assist members with machine usage and troubleshooting.

    Complete and document a personal project, outlining goals and progress.

    You must complete at least 12 tasks of work per month to maintain benefits.

  • Compensation:

    Unlimited studio time.

    Access to studio supplies.

    One free pattern print per month.

    50% off of one on one classes al a carte.

Service Trade

  • Description:

    Service Trade Collaborators share their skills in exchange for TSA benefits. From business support to wellness or creative services, these partnerships help our community thrive through collaboration.

  • Responsibilities:

    Provide agreed-upon services (e.g. marketing, photography, beauty/wellness, organizing, etc.). Communicate needs and expectations clearly. Coordinate scheduling with TSA.

  • Compensation:

    Benefits are non-monetary and based on trade agreement. May include studio time, access to supplies, class discounts, exposure, or other in-kind exchanges.
